I had a nice conversation with Ron Riley the Driver and Crewchief of this Great A/FX car, which has been a quiet little secret to most of the Drag racing world...This is Hayden Profett's 65 Comet...When Hayden lost his Mercury sponsorship, the little Comet was purchased by McCoy Mercury in Rising Sun MD. The McCoy gang basically rebuilt the whole car, as it was nothing but an empty shell when they acquired it..The car was repainted this awesome Lavender Purple, and the blue tinted windows were added, they straightened-out the front bumper and made a show piece out of the car...With the addition of the Gold leaf McCoy Mercury signs, this car truely was a piece of eye candy in 1966..The car ran 9.50s at 165mph...Ron told me that when they added nitro to the fuel he could barely keep the front wheels on the ground when the car made a pass...

This is a "MUST-HAVE" for any old A/FX fan...and it's a perfect example of how awesome looking these cars were at the time..This is a little Gem of the F/X world..
