"Big Jim" Dunn in his rear-engined 72 Cuda Funny Car doing a burn-out at about 2.00a.m., at the "Hang 10" Funny Car Championships at Orange County Raceway ( Damn I miss that track! ).

If you ever get a chance to see the motion picture "Funny Car Summer," you might recognize this scene from the closing of the movie. It was about 2.00a.m.when the final two cars made it to the starting line. Everyone was bleary eyed, but what a great night at the "County!"

I wanted to paint this scene as sort of an experiment. I wanted everything in the image to be haunting and hazy looking, the only part that is in focus is the front wheel well.

Here's to the classic days of Orange County Raceway, and innovative Drag Racers like "Big Jim" Dunn ( the only person to ever win a race in a rear-engined Funny Car). Design Tech Graphics
